The most recent "Superstar" we heard from is Ice Prince, who i hear is putting finishing touches to the video... On Thursday, June 9, pop prodigy Wizkid finally dropped his much awaited debut album called Super Star. As from 12:01am on June 9 the album was available for sale online and was reported to be the second highest selling album on the site within 24hours of its official sale date.
Super Star also replicated this feat on the streets as it was reported that a music outlet in Ogba sold over 50 copies of the young man’s album in less than 3 hours. Musical analysts predict that as the rate at which the album is selling, Super Star might be this year’s fastest selling album. While no review has been done on it yet, many of his fans as well as music critics have called the album ‘amazing and full of hits’.
On Sunday, June 12, Wizkid will be having his official album concert at the Eko Hotel and Suites, and even while i am still begging for my pass Wizkid’s manager Osagie and Banky W are making sure Wizkid is rehearsing day and night for the gig because they want to use it as an avenue to silence critics who have tagged Wizkid as “all flash and no talent” - I dont want to miss the action either; yes i know i sound like an agbaya but you dont know if i am 16 and a die hard fan oo
Since 2009, Wizkid has released three number one singles; Holla at Your Boy, Tease Me (Bad Guys) and Don’t Dull; also featuring on numerous scene-stealing tracks. After the concert, Wizkid and his EME label mates, Skales and Banky W will head to North-America for their tour. Coincidentally Super Star was released on the birthday of Wizkid’s rumoured girl friend, Tonto Dikeh.
