The event happened on Sunday July 31st Twenty Eleven at the Silverbird galleria Lagos and was a 'Nollywood "star studded" event' as Uche Jombo premiered her movie - Damage - the first of a series of "Damage movies" with sequels "My Life My Damage" and "My Country My Damage" to be released at later dates.
The movie borders on the all too familiar story of the love between a man and his wife, and the pains of domestic violence. It takes an irregular twist though as it shows the struggles each spouse goes through on a daily basis to keep their marriage together while the effect of their fights take a toll on the children. Starring Uche Jombo herself, the movie also parades actors like Kalu Ikeagwu, Tonto Dikeh, Basorge Tariah Jnr and features celebrated Nigerian names in its initial screen shots.
‘The Damage movies are unique and stands to correct societal ills, but beyond the storyline and qualitative nature of the movie. I am of the opinion that I am a Nigerian brand, and anything I do, represents Nigeria in one way or the other, so I cannot afford to compromise the ideal standard of a movie while hiding under the ‘anything goes’ guise. We had the best of hands from the cast to the crew and the result is highly encouraging’. - Uche Jombo
