SUPERSUN ALBUM LAUNCH with Bez and his band!!!

The anticipated 'SUPERSUN" album launch from alternative soul crooner Bez Idakula happened on Sunday July 24, 2011 at the SS LOunge Victoria Island Lagos. The star-studded, fan-adorned, friend-graced event was a feature of Bez and his band rendering the songs off the album in an electrifying ambience of LIVE music; i could swear some United States Jazz band came into town to play.
It was a thrilling night and so far the artiste is breaking grounds and gaining favor with the fans contrary to the observations of industry experts who couldn't bet Bez would have a easy break through the industry... The album is available for purchase on itunes and Bez's tweeps have been as loyal. He would be reopening the TG1stT - a show put together by the Silverbird team at the Galleria Lagos on Thursday July 28, 2011.

ARTISTE PROFILE - "SHALOM DE RISING SUN"

When you hear the Hebrew word shalom, what comes to your mind is the bible or the English translation of the word “PEACE”…but here we are talking about none of that! Shalom here, is one new breed of Nigerian musician, with an eclectic sound.  Born, Titus Uwana Ufot on august 15th '82. His journey into music began at age ten, little shalom joined the senior choir in his church as the youngest addition to the group, though young in age, he was unarguably one of the best tenor the church had, his early found love for music grew so strong into his teenage years, he began the melody makers, an eight man accapella group. Their popularity soared beyond the four walls of the high school when it began, they did gigs like pros, he said… they were booked for different performances, from weddings to conventions and even government functions, but the group could not keep it together  after graduation, this development led to shalom's fresh journey into music as a solo artiste.
Today the fair skinned singer has matured into a full blown young man ready to take on the music industry armed with multiple singles; nwayioma, feel me, bakan and fresh out videos and a charged spirit gearing to make imprints in the sands of the music industry. He featured on 2tracks in Chuddy K's “I AM ME!” album; walakolombo and rock this party (from dj Vinnie mix tape) and has many collaboration to his profile……Shalom is under GIGGLESPLUS MANAGEMENT.

THE HEADIES 2011; Nominees list and "NEW AWARD CATEGORY"

Nigeria's  most anticipated annual music Awards The Headies (Hip Hop World Awards), is rolling out plans ahead of this year's ceremony, various activities and announcements have been released to keep the public duly informed icluding fresh hosts Eldee Da Don and Rita Dominic; and in a couple of days, news will be released to reveal the Nominees List.

Producer of the Awards, Ayo Animashaun, had this to say...The awards preparation has started in earnest and a lot of things will be different this year. I'm so excited and I honestly cannot wait to see how things will unfold.

After about three months of intensive deliberation and cross-examinations of music talents and their works under various nomination categories, the Headies nomination committee a committee which includes music professionals and veterans of reputable pedigree, a comprehensive nomination list has been presented.
However, something new has also been introduced to the nomination list this year. Away from the norm of 20 nomination categories, the Organizers have included another category called Best Conscious Musicin the usual bid to further promote and celebrate local music talents in a highly competitive industry.

This is to reward best positive message and social corrective songs in the year in review. We thought it was overdue and there cannot be a better time than now especially with a lot of lewd lyrics and songs that hardly make any meaning. We recognise that music as an act is expressive of the state of mind, but we thought it was necessary to introduce this category giving the peculiar environment in which we operate.
(Here's hoping Chidinma's Jankoliko makes that list)

The Nominees list will be released on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 on the official Headies website, HipTV channel 9 on HITV and on the partnering urban Lagos radio station, The Beat 99.9FM. Voting this year according to organizers would be by SMS and online; the former will influence 65% while the latter will influence the other 35% of voting results. Ayo Animashaun explained that these voting methods were adopted scientific approaches to reinforce transparency and objectivity in collating votes for each category, keeping in mind the possibility of dubious manoeuvring by external factors.

PRESS RELEASE: SEX SELLS, ASK "LOVER BOY" ESURE

Talented producer, sweet and savvy vocalist, and yeh.. Banker! ESURE is out with a brand new effort titled "PAMI LAYO".

The sexy song with beats laced by the good-lucking-to-bits singer, extols powerful vocals engaging the drums and snares in the most romantic manner. Sex sells, is that why he decided to tow that line? No, he says. "Songs stem from inspiration, day to day activities inspire. They call me 'Lover Boy' so you should know sex and sexuality is a way of life".

ESURE first came on the scene with hit single Lanti Lanti which gained him deserved respect for his vocal ability and production skills. He's been on a long break since then but he's back now, according to him, music is his first love and there's no way he could envision a life for himself without it. "If i become President tomorrow, i'll be the first and probably only President who released albums while in office and performed at shows, lol".

I literally had goose bumps watching Tuface get introduced by Monique... and that performance, just beautiful and star graced as only Tuface would deliver. Tuface was a guest on the Monique show right after his BET Award ceremony feature where he walked away with BET Best International (African) Award; one he shared with Kokomaster D'Banj. The recording isnt so good, i guess Mister Idibia's team didnt see this coming - but you should still get a feel of it if you watch; gotta love this one... gotta love*

BIO
Asa was born Bukola Elemide, Aá¹£a was born in Paris, France to Nigerian parents. She was two years old when her family returned to live in Nigeria. Aá¹£a grew up in Lagos, in the south-western part of Nigeria. In 2004, she met her manager and friend, Janet, who introduced her into a world that helped her find her bearings and songs in English and Yoruba, music falling somewhere between pop and soul, inspired by her musical heritage – with particular care paid to the melodies – and reflecting the feeling she puts into it. Her texts talk about her country, the things in life, the things in her life, all delivered with feigned naïveté and real irony.
It was at this stage of her life that Aṣa finally returned to Paris. This was her chance to test out her talent on the French musical scene, playing with artists such as the Les Nubians, Manu Dibango, Doctor L and Tony Allen. In the meantime, back in Nigeria, her first single, Eyé Adaba, then Jailer, were beginning to get airtime. MTV chose her as the ambassador for South Africa.
Aá¹£a soon signed to the 'Naïve label'. Partnered by Nigerian producer Cobhams Asuquo, and with the new involvement of Christophe Dupouy, she produced her first album, Aá¹£ha. Her second album titled Beautiful Imperfection was released on 25 October 2010. The lead single off Beautiful Imperfection is titled "Be My Man" and was released in late September. A video for the song was released in mid-October. Her awards include the 2008 Prix Constantin and she has toured extensively across the world – including Europe, North America and Asia.

LAMI PHILLIPS ADOPTS ORPHANAGE

"I have been seeking to support a specific cause in the society and have considered a number of institutions. But when I visited the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Motherless Babies’ Home, Makoko and shared experiences with the kids, my heart settled on them.”
UN Ambassador and singer is doing a very honorable thing; she is adopting a whole orphanage through her NGO "BeTheChange" and focusing on it as her pet project. The singer plans to use her influence and network to raise funds from gigs and concerts featuring fellow musical acts. What I admire most about this is she has chosen to work with an ordinary one as opposed to the "celebrated" orphanages across town - The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Motherless Babies’ home located at Makoko, Adekunle, Lagos; an institution that has been in existence for more than 25 years. Kudos Lami!

NELSON MANDELA IS 93 TODAY!!!

A very few very international figures affect the lives of people who have never met them or known them before; most of these people are of blessed memory, a few still live and oneof them turns a whooping Ninety-Three (93) years old today. Today is one of the days I wish I knew this man in person, so i could actually shake his hand - that's all i want to do, "get a Mandela shake" as opposed to some presidential one - lol.
Nelson Rolihlahla Dalibhunga Mandela or "Madiba" as he is fondly called by his South Africans was born on July 18, 1918 and is famous for being an activist who after surviving 27 years in a secluded cape town prison was released to become one of the greatest leaders to ever rule any African country and indeed a world influence. Today, I join the South Africans to celebrate him by sharing some memorable quotes of his; true words on marble*

There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.
NELSON MANDELA, Long Walk to Freedom

No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.
NELSON MANDELA, Autobiography

[A] new society cannot be created by reproducing the repugnant past, however refined or enticingly repackaged.
NELSON MANDELA, Nobel lecture, 1993

I was called a terrorist yesterday, but when I came out of jail, many people embraced me, including my enemies, and that is what I normally tell other people who say those who are struggling for liberation in their country are terrorists. I tell them that I was also a terrorist yesterday, but, today, I am admired by the very people who said I was one.
NELSON MANDELA, Larry King Live, May 16, 2000

The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
NELSON MANDELA, Autobiography

Freedom would be meaningless without security in the home and in the streets.
NELSON MANDELA, speech, April 27, 1995

Let there be justice for all. Let there be peace for all. Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all. Let each know that for each the body, the mind and the soul have been freed to fulfil themselves.
NELSON MANDELA, speech, May 10, 1994

The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
NELSON MANDELA, Autobiography

After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.
NELSON MANDELA, Long Walk to Freedom

Man's goodness is a flame that can be hidden but never extinguished.
