JOEY PLUS RELEASES SECOND SINGLE - "E no matter"

Joey Plus was one of the producers who mentored the band in the Nigerian Breweries sponsored Talent Hunt Show, Star Quest. The talent hunt was indeed a parade of tested producers including Samklef [Producer for Wizkid's Don't Dull] and Phat E [J'odie's Kuchi kuchi baby]. Joey Plus mentored the winning band at this year's Star Quest talent hunt, B.E.A.T.

Before Star Quest, Joey Plus born Joseph Eferurhobo mentored under Willie Oputa - a Producer/DJ with legendary Tuface Idibia engineered tracks for the like of Blackfaze [Plantashun Boiz], Krazy Kulture et al and release his first single, 'No time' featuring Dampte of Wine your tinkolo featuring YQ fame. The Producer/singer revamped his recording career as he launches the #Joeytunesday new music giveaway every tuesday via his Twitter account: @JoeyPlus weeks ago. He has pause recording of new tracks for #JoeyTunesDay and give out dwnload links  for the new single, "E no matter". He started his music career at a tender age like many other that came before him. However, his path to recognition did not follow the convention. He grew up playing the piano in the Church and listening to the music of Sir Victor Uwaifo and a host of others.

Joey plus, understandably, claims he gets his influences from the likes of Timbaland, Jay Z, R. Kelly, John legend, Akon, Bob Marley, Kanye West and a host of others.
Joey Plus came into contact, and fell deeply in love with Hip Hop and RnB in 1995 after listening to a musical compilation of some of the afore-mentioned artistes. Ten years later, he recorded his first solo effort titled ”Oba tin seun”.  Years later, he released his official debut single titled 'No time' - an uptempo record with its beats laced with great lyrics and fit into today’s settings. E no matter can best be described as the Nigerian unity song where J Martins meet a lesser melodic vibe with lyrics like 'whether I south, whether I west, whether i north, whether i east, E no mata [Matter]'

WHO IS JOEY PLUS?

Joey Plus born Eferurhobo Joseph Ogbeneovo is an emerging singer and fast rising producer extraordinaire credited with engineering several tracks enjoying spin in clubs around Lagos – Joey has coproduced several tracks with Willie Oputa, engineering tracks for artistes like Blackface, Crazy Culture, Dampte amongst others. The Delta state maestro didn’t get into music until he was 15 years of age when he was forced into the church choir by Pastor, who he lived with after he left his parents.

Joey was born in Ibadan just after his father who was in the military moved from Kanji, Kogi state. Joey left his parents at the age of 10, to live with a friend of the family – the pastor who introduced him to music – Joey was asked to join the choir. Two years after, he began playing the drumset and taught himself how to play the piano too positioning him as the candidate for the church’s choir coordinator at the age of 15.
He came to Lagos in 2004 and for over a year, He continued playing piano for a church. In 2005, he was introduced to producer Willie O by a neighbour. Willie was impressed by the track he recorded with the church’s piano and agreed to mentor Joey in the craft of music production and engineering.  In the course of his mentorship with Willie O, he co-produced Blackface’s debut album with Willie O and Kelly Hansome where he particularly recorded Blackface’s vocals for 'ahead of the game' song. Joey – who is inspired by Victor Iwaifo, 2pac and R Kelly – recorded his first studio track afterwards, his rendition of a popular gospel tune.
In 2006, he left Willie's mentorship and became an independent producer at Rotron studios where he met producer Dr. Frabs. He produced tracks for several upcoming artistes including the Krazy Kulture duo of ‘jupa’ fame.
